Dabconcept[edit]

User:Kendrick7 this appears like a WP:DABCONCEPT to me, with entries being examples, now marked as such.

  • Alternatively, the redirect to the populariser Allan Gotlieb was OK as a primary topic, and arguably could have been preserved, and disambiguated there to a dab page located at Bargain (disambiguation). A dabconcept here is better though. Regards Widefox; talk 14:31, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That's a fair point, @Widefox: there's something to be said be for "Grand bargain" being a general concept within parliamentary democracies. However, what those bargains entailed are going to be so disparate among various worldwide democracies, that I think trying to create a general overview (if that's indeed what you are proposing) would just be a muddle. -- Kendrick7talk 23:42, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Kendrick7 except it appears to me, that this dab page creation and that concern is explicitly covered in WP:DABCONCEPT "A disambiguation page should not be created just because it is difficult to write an article on a topic that is broad, vague, abstract, or highly conceptual. " . Widefox; talk 07:40, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Widefox: I wrote the DAB because I created the page Grand bargain (United States, 2011), and Grand bargain already existed and pointed to Allan Gotlieb. I didn't want to just steal some other editor's ball, and after searching the project I found yet a third usage. Three things make a list, and in my tiny worldview a list can make a DAB page; and, I would contend that they in general are multiple unrelated concepts. But I was only trying to be fastidious; I wasn't attempting to bite off the obligation of writing the definitive article on the subject from a worldwide and time-wide perspective, etc. So, perhaps I've instead been over-scrupulous; maybe, I should have just stolen the redirect for my article and, if anyone noticed, added a hatnote or two. Or three? I don't know; you seem to be the DAB expert here. Let me know what you think; I'm happy to go with a nationalistic, live-for-today POV that the phrase Grand bargain refers chiefly to the American events of post-2010 (which isn't entirely untrue). -- Kendrick7talk 02:09, 22 March 2016 (UTC) No periods? Drat! I always just do what I saw the last DAB page I looked at do :p [reply]
@Kendrick7: Yes I created the redirect. My hunch is that they are a broad concept with these being examples of it. I haven't checked the articles well, so that may or may not not be right, but worth considering. List articles are not dabs, and this may alternatively be an WP:SIA, but for certain it looks like a bad dab as they're related. Widefox; talk 07:36, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, @Widefox: I didn't even realise it was your ball to begin with! I leave this mess in your capable hands then. As long as my article can be reached in a click or two: ¯\ (ツ) /¯[1] -- Kendrick7talk 11:48, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
