This article is in need of some work![edit]

While I have some major issues with the general lack of progress in the Gran Turismo series, I still recognise the significance of the games. Gran Turismo 2 was possibly the highest point in the series, so I'm confused as to why the main body of this article seems to be made of up pathetic, unimportant nitpicks of the game (are typographical errors in the manual really relevant or significant enough to have prominent encyclopedic featuring?). I'm not familiar enough with the game to be able to contribute much myself, but surely there are plenty of big GT2 fans who can improve this article. Even if people think there isn't anything that needs to be added, I personally think it would read better with a lot of the criticism removed.--roddie digital (talk) 22:06, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah. But if one is a fan, one is not Neutral Point-of-View.--SportWagon (talk) 22:02, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. But if one is seeking to critcise the game by nitpicking and finding tiny errors for the sake it, then that's not NPOV either. This is a game held in high regard, yet the reception section in this article is nearly entirely negative. --roddie digital (talk) 18:36, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

cars[edit]

we need to move the cars to a new article. Cars included in Gran Turismo 2

I deleted the section on unique glitches as being, *ahem*, extremely unencyclopedic. Most or all of the 'glitches' need to be deleted as well. The 'criticism' is merely the unsourced opinion of some nameless editor here, and needs to be replaced with something like an actual review of the game. Compare:

  • Many people complain about the glitches that are found in the game, and just plain wrongness unique to each game.

Note, aside from the difference in content, that one sentance is referenced, and the other is not.

Now, as far as content goes, this article needs some. I suggest these sections:

  • Intro
  • History
  • Gameplay
  • Criticism
  • Trivia

I'm sure it's not going to be hard to find sources for this article, but if anyone can track down some actual newspaper articles that talk about this game, that would be excellent. Tenebrous 08:06, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

criticisms section[edit]

writing style is too personal. Also no examples of "glitches" given.

  • I agree, the glitches section was recently deleted. and that section does seem rather personal

"The most annoying part of GT2 is though" this is clearly an opinion. Barcode 21:14, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As a specific example...

An Addition that was despised throughout the fan community were Horsepower limits which meant only cars under a certain horsepower may enter that race. Thankfully due to complaints these limits were not present in Gran Turismo 3

I'm a fan, or I'd be truly inclined to delete that "horsepower limit" "criticism". Do they have citations for that? The only criticism I ever heard of the horsepower limits was that they were too generous, i.e. so high as to be almost meaningless. Assuming a limit of about 80% of the stated one usually (but not always) resulted in a manageable race. But in any case, overall, I wonder why this whole article isn't just left as a subsection of a single Gran Turismo (video game).--SportWagon 22:23, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Other people don't like how there are less than 10 songs for racing, so they get very repetitive, but this can be solved just by going to settings, turning the music sound down and turning on the radio or playing a CD."

That sounds like a personal rant about the game and a "solution" from a fan that doesn't care about the problem. I think this is just unnecesary. -Cirilobeto 01:45, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"The most annoying part of GT2 is though, the fact that there are a bunch of glitches that are not just annoying, but they can interrupt gameplay and even ruin your game" what the hell? the whole critisms section sounds like its written by some 13 year old who sucks at gran tursimo 2.

and you sound like someone who didn't have GT2 1.0, went to the test track then saved his game- losing his entire garage, this wasn't isolated or a maybe. How about every third load or so of the Trial Mountain <290 hp endurance race it loads a 600 hp Vector at the front of the pack that you can't see and it's gone around the bend at the start? 45 minutes later it laps you and you realize you had no chance to win. Tahiti Maze, where a drunken Toyota drives a hundred feet, turns into a wall and stays put for the rest of the race? Or the countless mysterious incidents where you could swear you just got rear ended by a ghost car, coinciding with some really strange music effects?
I loved that game and got it the day it was released. I also kept 1.0 and didn't send it in because many of the glitches were downright funny, and even fun. Going off track at Laguna Seca or the other 3 or so courses with holes in tire walls was a blast! You got it wrong tho, the glitches were serious. Some theorized Sony flogged the developer's people to get the title done in time for the Christmas rush and they left them there as a Mr. Scrooge to Sony. The garage dump was just plain cruel. I remember Sony's response when I called them, it was the same lie I got over the DRE issue on the PS2. "why, you're the first person who has comlained, we don't know anything about it" which follows the Japanese corporate model of denying your mistakes (see Canon E18 error, [2])and of course they've tried to deny it since but the GT2 1.0 bugs were to blatant to forget. Language![edit]

Could someone flag this as "needs to be formalised"? It badly needs rewording. Hyperspacey 01:09, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A Suggestion[edit]

SOMEONE PLEASE PUT AN IMAGE OF THE PALM DRAG STRIP Glitch! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pendo 4 (talkcontribs) 20:13, 6 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

No. --TheEmulatorGuy 02:29, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would Like to see an image of That Palm Drag Strip!

We can't because it doesn't exist! It's a rumor! Now will you shut up? Karrmann 23:07, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FIRST OF ALL IT IS NOT A RUMOR!SECOND THOSE TWO PEOPLE ARE NOT THE SAME. THIRD DONT SAY SHUT UP IT IS RUDE.

Ok, then I got an idea. YOU find a screenshot, and send it to me. Because I am a member of GT planet, and they have denied it existing, and nobody has been able to do the drag strip glitch. One they brkoe off, their car just fell into the obiss, and they exited the race. And don't vandalize my space either. Grow up and quit acting like such a baby. Karrmann 22:52, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think The Palm Strips Course is a load of bull. But Was It really going to be included?Pendo 4 17:57, 14 January 2007 (UTC)Pendo 4[reply]

I guess it would be a note including it in the myths section. But just like you said, it is a load of bull, just like the whole "Buy 100 black cars adn get a Mclaren F1" Easter Egg. Karrmann 22:43, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It would be so cool if there was such thing.Pendo 4 02:40, 23 January 2007 (UTC) Pendo 4[reply]

UK/IRL Version[edit]

Is there an article regarding the version of GT2 that was released in the UK and Ireland? Mentioning things like the sound track, cars circuits etc? Cos even the cover is different from whats on this page.

Music Mistakes[edit]

In the game, they have every music track on there, but then they omitted "Hey Man Nice Shot" for "Sex Type Thing" and "Super Bon Bon", both sexually oriented songs. Did they do that because of the rush? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.110.197.20 (talk) 04:33, 11 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Music Mistakes Reply[edit]

Actually, if you hear the songs, I don't believe they have very bad orientations in it. It could be that "Hey Man Nice Shot" is about either Kurt Cobain or Bud Dwyer killing themselves and Filter congratulating them with, "Hey, man. Nice shot." It's a cool song, but it's about suicide, so they took it out and stuck Stone Temple Pilots and Soul Coughing in there.

That's what introduced me to "Core" by Stone Temple Pilots.

WikiProject class rating[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 19:21, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Awful quality article[edit]

The reception part was just filled with bias as well as other parts of the article. This game was MASSIVE in europe. I don't know who has written this, but this was without doubht one of the biggest Playstation games ever in the 90's for the UK and Ireland.

Games magazines at the times heaped 10/10 scores on it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Megapeen (talkcontribs) 16:53, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
