acting governors[edit]

it could be interesting to explain the difference between "normal" governors and "acting" governors, and why we sometimes find one, then the other Jasy jatere (talk) 16:12, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A normal governor would be appointed by the crown as such. An acting governor would be fulfilling the role, when the post was vacant. Such a person would probably be the senior member of the governor's staff, such as colonial secretary, and would revert to that role on the arrival of the new governor.
