Untitled[edit]

Earth Defense Force is not a rough translation of Chikyuu Boueigun. It's a direct translation.

The following request by an anon user (86.138.198.93) was copied over here from WP:RM (Endroit 16:47, 5 October 2007 (UTC)) :[reply]

  • Chikyuu Boueigun 2Earth Defense Force 2 —(Discuss)— Often known under this English title —86.138.198.93 10:45, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • Though this game is fairly obscure, the third title in the series was released on the Xbox 360 as Earth Defense Force 2017, which has lead to interest in this particular title, especially as it has since been given a European release as 'Global Defence Force'. However, it's still widely known as EDF2 or Chi.. the Japanese name. It seems more appropriate to have the available English name (which fits into a series). Some fans would doubtless disagree so I'm leaving it here for discussion. Thanks. 86.138.198.93 10:50, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Should be moved to Global Defence Force instead. Official localizations take priority over unofficial translations.--SeizureDog 16:50, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I've added your suggestion to the rename thingy. Someone another 13:09, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:VG assessment[edit]

This is a response to the request for assessment at WP:VG. I'm going to keep the rating at Start-Low, and here's why:

  • Not many references. See WP:CITE.  Done
  • The enemy descriptions shouldn't be included per WP:NOT#GUIDE. If it's not useful to someone who's never going to play the game, then don't include it.  Done
  • No screenshots. You'll want fair use rationales for any you upload as well as the box art. Done
  • Reception section needs expansion.
  • The lead section isn't very good. See WP:LS.
  • Two staple sections of video game articles, plot and development (have a look at featured VG articles for an idea of what I mean), are absent.

You could get a B by adding screenshots, removing the enemy descriptions, expanding reception, adding a plot/development section, and adding more references.

Hope this helps, Una LagunaTalk 05:53, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Woah, fast. TY! Someone another 11:25, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So far so good, though the box art needs a fair use rationale. Una LagunaTalk 19:48, 11 October 2007 (UTC) Done[reply]

I will be getting back to it again after doing more on OTH DS, though the plot and development sections are going to be problematic. The plot itself (which I'll scour from the manual) isn't large enough for a section, so I'll just slot it on top of gameplay or in the lead. Development on the other hand is a non-starter, there's nothing in English available and I have zero grasp of Japanese.Someone another 03:55, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
