St Mungo's cathedral?[edit]

The article says "ituated on a hill above St Mungo's Cathedral, and to the east of Glasgow Cathedral". Is this true? Glasgow Cathedral is (or was, I think) dedicated to St Mungo, so I don't know what a distinct "St Mungo's Cathedral" would be. There is another church nearby, but I don't believe it's a cathedral (heck, Glasgow has four cathedrals already). -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 17:16, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Glasgow Cathedral IS or can be known as St. Mungo's Cathedral. 138.251.249.145 08:47, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Statue of William Miller[edit]

Miller, who wrote Wee Willie Winkie, is buried at the Necropolis, but I don't have any other details. - Dudesleeper · Talk 01:42, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Miller is not buried at the Necropolis, there is a memorial to him there, but he is buried in Tollcross Cemetery. —Preceding unsigned comment added 22:27, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Victorian?[edit]

Is it appropriate to label the Necropolis a "Victorian" cemetery, as it was officially opened 4 years prior to the beginning of Queen Victoria I's reign? 70.122.212.74 (talk) 19:27, 7 June 2009 (UTC)A. Jameson70.122.212.74 (talk) 19:27, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"High Church New Cemetery"?[edit]

Is the High Church New Cemetery synonymous with the Necropolis?

According to the reliable ext refs, John Stenhouse was buried in the High Church, New Cemy, Glasgow, but I can find very few other references to such a cemetery.

If so, a redirect to this article is in order. --Mais oui! (talk) 12:10, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Death Commentary[edit]

For WikiProject:Death, I assessed the article; here are some points to consider for improvement to B-class:

  • References: need some more for the various facts and claims in the text. While a travel guide may be acceptable for directions or the location, something more substatial is needed when referring to laws and social trends.
  • Coverage: Why was a statue of John Knox built there? Did he have a special connection to Glasgow?
    • Why is there a memorial for the Korean War? Did a significant number of citizens die in that war?
    • With 50,000 bodies and 3,500 tombs, that's an average of ~14 people per tomb, right? I'm guessing there's alot of re-use in family plots. Is there a record of the most people in one grave?
  • Structure: This is the most apparent but correctible point. The entire lead section needs to be divided into sections. Only the first paragraph needs to be the lead. Divide the rest into sections such as "History", "Layout", "Access", etc.

Good luck! Boneyard90 (talk) 19:13, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
