Question[edit]

The subject is described as a Scottish physician. However the article on his father describes the father as English. Are we sure that this particular John Howe, who appears to never have been in Scotland, is the subject’s father? Mccapra (talk) 05:56, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The modern Oxford Dictionary of National Biography says John Howe (1630–1705) was his father, so I guess we just have to go with that. 𝕱𝖎𝖈𝖆𝖎𝖆 (talk) 12:09, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Is the DNB specific about whether the John Howe (1630-1795) is the English puritan John Howe, or might it have been another individual of the same name and dates? Mccapra (talk) 17:45, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
