As a descendant.[edit]

This dude did live. This dude did name mountains. This dude did paint stuff.

The importance of his work is the subject of little concern. Beard did name mountains. Beard did take pictures.Beard did paint stuff(of which he was pretty good)

I'll start digging into all of the family history to verify some of these claims. But he wasn't really the Beard ancestor of significant note. While we he was verifiably an Early American Photographer Painter and Mountaineer. Particularly in the Uiantah Range of mountains. The importance and significance of his works remain unverified. Most of the information about this significant family figure remains protected by the Brigham Young University. And even as a member of his family is very hard to obtain.

No scholarly articles exist about the individual. But his paintings do hang in my family home(although reproductions) the claims he named mountains are no contest. The largely new Uiantah Range were a literal wild west. But due to his relation with the LDS church and pictures of said ranges at particularly important spots... Does provide a somewhat viable history.

As a descendant. Verifying my family history is of some import. C R H 2601:281:CD01:2290:7C06:5927:4C81:AB61 (talk) 06:48, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. I work at BYU and one of my students did a lot of work on this page. Because of Wikipedia's policies about verifiability, we are limited to information that is in reliable sources that other can access. That means we have to use whatever information is already in print about him. So, for example, if we wanted to add the information that he named a mountain range, we would need a news article, scholarly article, or book that reproduces that claim. Is there a specific fact on the page that you are concerned with? Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 19:11, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My student was able to find a source for him naming Mount Lovenia. I'm going to check out Utah Place Names and see if his name comes up in other place names documented there. Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 19:28, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
