Move to Gayle Benson[edit]

This page needs to be moved to Gayle Benson (which is currently a redirect to a section of Tom Benson's page). Since Tom Benson's death, Benson has become the owner of two professional sports franchises. Gayle Benson and Debt[edit]

User:Plandu "removed a claim that was made in a lawsuit but presented as fact." This is unclear. If this is a reference to her financial debt, this is documented and cited. Gayle Benson was about to lose her home and she had a ton of judgments against her. The Louisiana Secretary of State Website confirms her business had state tax liens. I didn't remove the sentence about her being financially unstable. I removed the sentence that contained an unattributed quote about being in debt. That quote, far from being from a neutral source, was from a complaint by Rita Benson-LeBlanc. Changing the quote to a simple statement and having the statement backed up by a neutral, reliable source (like the next sentence) would work great. - Plandu (talk) 13:09, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dixie Brewing Company[edit]

  • I agree. Dixie Brewing Company should have not been removed. Gayle Benson has a lot of assets. This is one of the oldest breweries in the United States and the oldest brewery in the South. I did not remove the relevant part about her buying and reopening it. A wikipedia article about Gayle Benson, however, is not the place for a complete history of Dixie Brewing Company. Plandu acted in bad faith and not discuss this on the talk page for Gayle Benson. The neutrality of Plandu is in quetion. When removing entire sections, Plandu is vandalizing the page. I am removing this section again, not in bad faith, as you claim, but because not only are these quotes haphazard and not relevant to the article, as I mentioned in my edits, but are copied wholesale from the article you link to. You could help correct the section versus removing the entire section because you do not like the section. If you feel these scholarly quotes were not written correctly, help improve the page. 3O Response: In this version, I'm just not seeing the value of the quotations. They aren't particularly illustrative, insightful or surprising – or encyclopedic. They seem rather generic to me, the sort of thing any interior designer might say. If the "law of good dining rooms" was taught in design schools, then that'd be different (and no, it can't be a school she financially supports). A section of quotes is not recommended WP:QUOTEFARM and is rather like a trivia section. I just don't see these adding anything to the article. Maybe try Wikiquote. BTW, I considered paraphrasing the quotations to salvage the section but what I was left with was so generic that I didn't feel it was worth having. – Reidgreg (talk) 14:41, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]


Plandu and Vandalism[edit]

On 7 August 2018 Plandu "Removed the sentence with quotes about gold-digger, a term that is not used in the complaint. If re-added, it should say that columnist Jeff Duncan characterized the lawsuit as characterizing Gayle Benson as a 'gold-digger' and 'opportunist.'" Jeff Duncan did not characterize her a "gold-digger" and "opportunist," the "complaint" did and the news organizations reported the characterization. -- A "complaint" was not cited. It was several news articles. WVUE-DT wrote the first news article. The "complaint" characterized Gayle Benson as a "gold-digger." The citations were added with notes. On 9 August 2018 Plandu added {{Excessive Citations}}. On 9 August 2018 Footballsaint "Corrected [excessive citations] and created 'References Continued' per Wikipedia policy. Nothing I have done has vandalized the page. Each time, I pointed you to the Wikipedia policy that motivated my actions. As you familiarize yourself with Wikipedia, please review these. Removing entire sections is considered "vandalism." I know most of the policies. There are a lot of different polices. I did not create the pages I work on. I fix them. This page lacked citations and references. Wikipedia is not technically considered an enterprise. Some of the pages should have never been approved but they were and they need a lot of work. Removing entire sections *without reason* is considered vandalism. It's a common mistake. I meant the term enterprise in its common definition, "a project or undertaking", not the more restrictive term of business. I'll try to be more precise for you in future. Certain pages do need a lot of work. What pages do not need, is to have the contents of other pages copied and pasted into them (WP:COPYVIO) and redundant citations (WP:OVERCITE). I'm glad that you know most of the policies and look forward to you improving your editing skills as time goes on. Your dedication to a single page is remarkable, and it is my hope that with your help, one day the page for Gayle Benson will be worthy of Good article status!
