This article is written in Indian English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, travelled, centre, analysed, defence) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Too Little Info[edit]

This article is quite short and provides too little info. For example, is this the ritual performed at the time of marriage or is it performed just prior to (or during or just after) consummation? It would be helpful to have that stated explicitly. Also, a description of the ritual would add to the article, along with any photographs that comply with wikipedia's policy on graphics content.

From reading the paragraph above, it sounds like this ceremony occurs long after the marriage (which happens during childhood) and it marks the beginning of the couple's life together? Is this what the ceremony is for
