"His Vie de Saint-Alexis (1872) broke new ground and provided a model for future editors of medieval texts." How, exactly? "It included the original text and the variations of it dating from the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries" is problematic as well, as there is no 'original' Vie de Saint Alexis. I've not read his 1872 edition (he did about 7 editions of it; I've read his 1884 edition), perhaps reading that might give me a clue. Renard Migrant (talk) 17:57, 19 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
