EP title[edit]

Just explain to me why this is called Gas Food Lodging. I have the EP and as far as I can tell its title is Drag. Maybe I'm missing something. If no one comes up with a convincing explanation I'll move it to the appropriate article name. Grimhim (talk) 11:05, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Curious and baffling! While none of the words Gas, Food or, indeed, Lodging appear on the disc, spine or cover, it may be that fans call it that because of the three small icons on the front that are most commonly seen on highway signs: a bowser, knife and fork and a bed. Australians would rarely say they're stopping for gas and never say they're looking for lodgings, so where in hell this all began I don't know. There is a film called Gas, Food Lodging, but beyond that, sheesh, I just don't know. My feeling is that the GFL article should redirect to what the record really seems to be called: Drag. See Zoso and The White Album as precedents.

But as to the EP: nice. A real Connolly gem. "Take Me With You" got a lot of airplay on Triple J: it's a gorgeous song and I bought it on the strength of that. The debut by Sparkadia from Sydney has a similar feel. Grimhim (talk) 12:59, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Point is, DM, almost every Beatles fan would call the band's 1968 double white album "The White Album", even though its real name is "The Beatles". Many Led Zep fans would call their fourth album "Zoso" because symbols that seem to spell out that word appear on the cover. But again, the real name of the album is something else. In both cases Wikipedia has a redirect on the common name, pointing to the official name. The name "Gas Food Lodging" seems to be a common identifier, maybe an in-joke name, but it doesn't appear (as words anyway) on the cover. It is really a self-titled EP, so for the sake of consistency, the article would be best renamed "Drag (EP)" with a redirect from "Gas Food Lodging". Still, it appears to be just the two of us watching this article, so I'm happy to let it stay a while and see if anyone else ventures an opinion. Actually, when it was a feature EP on Triple J, they were calling it Gas Food Lodging, not Drag, but who knows? I'll do what I can to find out under the skin with direct contacts I have. As to Zoso, most people call it Led Zeppelin 4. More than anything else. Zoso's what a few people call it. It's actually named after te fourt surnames of the band members (bonham, etc etc). And on The White album, even the beatles called it that, which is possibly where the trend began. --rm 'w a vu 15:28, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to ARIA Reports Nos. 640, 641 and 642 (first two of these are in the article), the EP is called Drag. Hence, I've added this as an alternative title for the release.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 08:38, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
