I remember from the Kingcraft article that the fillies foaled in 1867 were supposed to be an exceptional crop: Sunshine, Frivolity, Hester etc. Sunshine was certainly the winter favourite for the Derby and might well have won it but for being rerouted when her owner, James Merry unearthed the supposedly unbeatable Macgregor. Kingcraft, bless him, wasn't that good. Tigerboy1966 21:00, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Bless her heart, neither was big "ugly" Gamos. Sunshine and Paté were probably superior racers even though Gamos did pretty well at 2 in the off the beaten track meetings. She must have been striking with that white muzzle, (probably Birdcatcher's "splash gene" genetics working there but can't prove it). Froggerlauraribbit 21:59, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
