Ronaldo[edit]

It is a opinion of the author that Ronaldo is "individualistic-player". I don't think that is encyclopedian content to express opinions in the articles...

Galactico era over[edit]

With Perez gone, the galactico era is essentially over at Real.. while the club will obviously go on signing big names, I don't think the term galactico is being used for them any more. --Peripatetic 11:25, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Galacticos?[edit]

While Owen, Robinho, and Julio Baptista were major signings, I wouldn't consider them Galacticos - at least not on the same level as Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo, and Beckham. These four are big names, while Robinho and Baptista have yet to make as much of an impact on football as those four. Owen... he's a big name in England I guess, but I still don't think he's on the same level as the first four. Wushugene 19:35, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

would Raul. Roberto Carlos or casillas be considered galacticos?

Raul? Yes, in his reputation! But,He is domestic player and Perez has nothing to do with him, in this aspect, he is not! G.nguyenquang (talk) 07:38, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Player inclusion[edit]

McManaman?! Are you 'avin a laugh? he scored the winning goal in the 2001 champions league final!

McManaman & Cassano[edit]

McManaman was the exact opposite of a Galacticos. He was a victim of the policy. By the way, Cassano has nothing to the departure of E'too. Cassano joined the team a year and half after E'too joined Barcelona from Real Mallorca. Real Madrid only owned half of E'too and he did not want to play for Real Madrid by 2004. That summer, Owen joined Real Madrid.

Arsenal sold several players to Real Madrid???[edit]

Apart from Anelka in 1999, Real madrid did not buy any player from Arsenal. It was not under Perez when Anelka was sold to Real Madrid so he was not a Galactico. Reyes was not a Galactico signing. It was basically a player exchange loab deal that did not work out. Reyes will not be at Real Madrid next season.

Uhhhhhh[edit]

How can Raul be a galactico when the characteristics include being signed by Perez? Raul was there before Perez, and they signed him as a youth player, therefore he is a Real Madrid product.

Either fix your definition of Galactico, or use a better example.

training grounds for 480m[edit]

serious?that's the price of a stadium!!!fix it pls.

Alvaro Arbeloa Not a Galactico[edit]

Firstly, he was signed for a meager €4 million, but that is beside the point. Arbeloa is an original youth team player of Real Madrid Castilla, and that defies the meaning of the Galactica. And he is no way considered to be a Galactico in or by anyone in Spain. Bulkroosh (talk) 13:52, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not All Signigns By Perez Are Galacticos[edit]

Thomas Gravesen wasn't a Galactico, neither was Jonothan Woodgate, both of whom were signed by Perez. In fact, Raul Albiol shouldn't be a Galactico too, but I will search more about that. Bulkroosh (talk) 13:53, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

Find the lack of sources for this article a problem, i also feel its a bit written like a promotion or non-neutral. However i can agree that there should be a Galactico article or some form of it. --> Halmstad, Charla to moi 22:40, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Chill baby I thinks you took my last post down but its the truth. Maicon is mos def Galacticos and check the source:

"Real Madrid have beaten Manchester City to the signing of Brazil right-back Maicon, the 28-year-old having played for new Real boss Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan last season." - That's from The Sun newspaper dawg.

Undo that buinness and let my wisdom stand in peace. 192.17.105.3 (talk) 16:56, 12 July 2010 (UTC) signature —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.17.105.3 (talk) 16:54, 12 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mesut Ozil Not a Galactico[edit]

He doesn't fit the profile of a Galactico. Low price, youngster with low marketing capabilities, one for the future, yes, but not a Galactico. Much similar to Robinho. Bulkroosh (talk) 23:05, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Second era?[edit]

There is no such thing as the second Galactico era. The first Galactico policy under Florentino failed miserably and even the pro-Madrid sports newspapers such as AS and Marca have distanced themselves from it and do not refer to the current crop of players as Galacticos.

The term Galacticos solely refers to Ronaldo, Figo, Zidane and Beckham. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.77.19.108 (talk) 00:06, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Factual accuracy of article[edit]

Let me expound on why I tagged the article with the {{Disputed}} tag. It reads like a personal essay at times and the facts given in certains section of the article are disputable. For example, who actually are the galácticos. It seems almost every new signing in recent years is listed. References need to be added. For everyone's action I sincerely hope, ANGCHENRUI WP:MSE 14:57, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Galacticos?[edit]

Alonso, Khedira, Di Maria, Ozil, Benzema - all excellent players, yes... but galacticos?! Who was writign this article? :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.150.188.212 (talk) 20:55, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree. 'Second Galacticos' is more a matter of opinion and the result of several newspaper articles calling them that prematurely. It is not a widely used title for this group of players. CyberCosmiX (talk) 00:39, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Other sports[edit]

I noticed the sentence that the concept is being applied to other sports, (e.g. article talked about the Toulon Rugby Union side and quoted a reference in 2012) so wanted to start a debate. Of course the concept has its origin in the real Madrid Soccer team, but it is now having a wider application.

For example in Rugby Union, well before the Toulon example cited, the Ospreys were being described as pursuing a "Galactico" strategy in 2007, "http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/guscott-blast-ospreys-galacticos-2211571"

Must be other examples in other sports too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.254.180.55 (talk) 21:37, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Currency[edit]

Why are Madrid's purchases at the start of the article denoted in British £ before reverting to €, when the transactions were conducted with the latter? ~~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.111.38.129 (talk) 02:13, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fat Ronaldo picture[edit]

Why use that unflattering pic of overweight retired Ronaldo at a charity match? Especially considering he played for Real, where the term Galácticos was coined. Surely it would be relevant to have him in a Real shirt when he was in his prime. MarshallMolasses (talk) 16:02, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
