Dates of birth and death[edit]

The information at IMDb is incorrect regarding Gail Sheridan. The individual born in 1916 and who died in 1982 (born as Shirley Mingus) is not the same actress who appeared in the 1930s films. The actress who was born in 1915 and who died in 2007 never married or had children. The other reference links confirm 1915/2007 years of birth/death. I have twice requested that the necessary corrections be made but IMDb has not yet done so. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 20:24, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any source for these claims? PatGallacher (talk) 16:07, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gail Sheridan (actress)Gail Sheridan

  • As the other Gail Sheridan, the Scottish political figure, has been reduced to a redirect, I suggest the actress is now the primary meaning. PatGallacher (talk) 16:07, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment does the page history need to be kept? If so you might need to move that to Gail Sheridan (politician) or something. 65.95.14.96 (talk) 05:14, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    • Six sentences were moved to another article, three were removed as they duplicated existing content there but the remaining text is probably enough for attribution to be needed. Peter E. James (talk) 02:24, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • That raises a big question, should otherwise sensible moves be blocked because of the need to retain page history? Could this practice itself be somewhat unencyclopedic? Small amounts of content can get copied between articles all the time, it could be difficult to keep track. PatGallacher (talk) 11:17, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • It's likely that some pages are deleted after content is copied to other articles - but deleted pages still exist and can be undeleted and redirected if necessary. An alternative is to copy the edit history to a talk page, but that makes it difficult to identify who added or changed text before it was copied. The need (or choice) to retain page history shouldn't block a move - the redirected page can be moved to another title. Peter E. James (talk) 13:25, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • We can move Gail Sheridan to Gail Sheridan (politician) over redirect, then do the move as proposed. However does anyone support this move? Also relevant is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gail Sheridan (2nd nomination). Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:21, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
