To Orangemike: This is an article about a public landmark in Jacksonville, Florida, controlled by the city government. There is no commercial interest, nor any direction to other websites. What is your justification for the spam tag?

"Spam" need not be commercial in motivation. It includes advertisements for places, persons, causes, ideologies, and so on. My concern is that the article seemed to be an advertisement for the Fountain, and contained little or no evidence that it is notable in the sense that the Taj Mahal is notable. As a former Floridian myself, I'm certain I don't have to tell you that all residents of a town have a certain interest in having people want to see their notable sites. What we need here is evidence that anybody much outside of Jacksonville and the tourist-publicity trade have noticed the Fountain's existence. --Orange Mike | Talk 19:14, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
I added the {wikify} tag to the Friendship Fountain article because although there are at least five wikilinks in that article, there are not enough relevant links wikified in order to meet Wikipedia's quality standards. – nh.jg 19:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Current status[edit]
Is the fountain functioning properly now? I was there about a year ago and colored lights would change and the streams of water would change. I was there again this weekend and none of the lights were on and only the few small streams in the middle were shooting up a few feet. It was this way for the 20 minutes or so I was there. - I don't know the official story, but I live downtown an have noticed the same thing. I want to say it has been that way since the hurricane. I could be wrong, though. It has definitely been a minute since I've seen the fountain in its full glory. Mathew105601 (talk) 11:34, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. I remember it from the 1960s, when all three pumps were working, etc. I think that the light stands and music that they added a few years ago detract from it. The lights on the stands outside the fountain don't do much to light up the water, and they shine in your eyes. The music system had terrible sound. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 15:29, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
