This Article Needs to be Tightened Up[edit]

This article needs a lot of work. Prior to today's edits, it implied that Henry adhered to outdated and totally discredited notions of "Liberation Theology" whilst at the same time being an advocate of priests accused (and convicted) of sexual assault. Also, what's with the inconsistencies on his treatment of so-called Catholic politicians? This should be much more concise and appear in a single section only, along with mention of what many feel is Henry's disgraceful failure to effectively discipline such politicians that reside, and take communion, in his diocese. Also, shouldn't some mention be made of his campaign to eliminate after-school sporting activities in favour of more ecclesiastical pursuits (ie. attending daily Mass) within the Calgary Catholic School Division? This has been well documented in the local press. Elk Islander 23:04, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I did a little of this. The original is riddled with POV. Tried to remove it. Let me know what you think. Apostle3141 13:40, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd question some of the statements in this article. For example, it states that he "commands great popularity amongst the largely conservative and traditionalist population of Calgary". The population of Calgary isn't really (socially) conservative and traditionalist, that's a bit of a myth. He also isn't very popular here, except among fairly hardcore fundamentalists - I don't know anyone who likes him, and a lot of Catholics I talk to consider him to be an embarrassment due to his extreme conservative views. I'm not suggesting putting anything like that in the article, but it shouldn't be talking about how popular he is without some sort of reference to back it up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashartus (talkcontribs) 17:34, 29 September 2009 (UTC) strike-through by Phobal 02:53, 5 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think Phobal's edits have improved this a lot, though citations are needed for a lot of it. The NPOV flag I added a while back can probably be removed (though in some respects it may be leaning a bit in the other direction now).Ashartus (talk) 19:40, 16 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
