Filmography[edit]

I've expanded on the filmography. I found the films in the The German Early Cinema Database (a secondary source and run by a university - more reliable than IMDb) by searching for 'Porten' in cast/crew and then manually went through the results. The database includes movies from 1985 to 1920, so wouldn't include any films Porten directed/starred in after 1920. It also may not be complete; The Secret of Wera Baranska/Das Geheimnis der Wera Baranska is included in the database but only one director is listed (not Franz Porten). It also doesn't have a page listing all the films directed/starred in by a person (that I've been able to find), so I've had to provide a separate citation for each film. I'll try to play with the database at some point later and see if I can find a better way.

I've ordered the films in chronological order but only found the year of release, not exact dates. So, film that are from the same year e.g. the released in 1909 may not be in chronological order in relation to each other.

It would be good to get translations for the German titles of the films. I don't speak German so don't feel confident doing so.

Also, this guy directed a lot of films - I'll see about putting the filmography in table form (at some point). Rogato1234 (talk) 04:31, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
