Winningest in sports articles under discussion[edit]

Please participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style#"winningest" in sports articles. Until consensus is reached, articles should be reverted to the previous stable version, per the policy WP:NOCONSENSUS: "In discussions of proposals to add, modify or remove material in articles, a lack of consensus commonly results in retaining the version of the article as it was prior to the proposal or bold edit." —Dennis Bratland (talk) 18:56, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced claim in BLP[edit]

The phrasing: "…he is the second winningest football coach in Wesleyan history." is unsourced wirhin the article, and I intend to remove it forthwith under WP:BLP#Reliable_sources, which states, "…contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced should be removed immediately and without discussion. This applies whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable, and whether it is in a biography or in some other article." --Pete (talk) 21:41, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is a footnote in the body to citation No. 3. Statements in the lead are generally not cited per WP:LEADCITE.—Bagumba (talk) 02:08, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. I checked all the cites. As I say, this statement is not sourced. If you can fix this, that would be great. --Pete (talk) 02:15, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I see this in the body: "... making him the second winningest football coach in the school's 120-year football history (trailing only Norm Daniels with 76 wins).[3]" Can you be more specific what is your concern and what you believe needs fixing?—Bagumba (talk) 02:45, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
An actual source would be handy. Cheers. --Pete (talk) 04:16, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
WP:KDL? Anyways, the Wayback machine took a snapshot a couple days after the cited accessdate [1]. It just needs an {{as of}} 2010 notation, pending verification that the record has stood since 2010. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 04:22, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
