Possibly toward the very end of his life in the 1960s, Francis X. Bushman was on phonograph record with the title "Fancis X. Bushman Speaks." It appeared to have been edited down to the 40 minutes or so (all that would fit on the 2 sides of the LP) from a much larger source, as there were frequent gaps and cuts. It was definitely a home made job from a friend or relative with a simple cassette recorder and microphone. You can hear background sounds and household activity. Anyhow, this recording was to me most fascinating. The power and personal magnetism of this man jump right out at you. He spoke so clearly and fluently and with such perception and intelligence, and he prounounced words enunciating each syllable (they don't do that any more! When is the last time you heard someone say today or tonight with an O?) that I thought how ironic this fellow was a "silent" movie star! I did learn from the recording that Mr. Bushman during the 1920s had a "talk radio" show in Chicago, perhaps the first. And I read somewhere that his biggest fan was Al' Capone. Gloria Swanson and other stars passing thru on the S.F. Super Chief would come up to his studio during their layover. I think it was WGN in Chicago. Poor Francis X. Bushman, at the last to pay his bills he had to make a movie called "Ghost in Invisible Bikini." He was interviewed by the Associated Press and spoke with his usual zest and optimism about the picture and how he was getting ready to make another "beach party" movie with someone (a teenager no doubt) named "Fabian." Right after that he passed away. Such a great man.

But listen, if anybody reads this and knows WHAT is the source of that phonograph record? I would give anything (home, bank book, even my two favorite daughters) to discover the source of it, and where the missing parts of the original recording can be found. I hope they did not get erased! Does somebody, relative friend or neighbor, have them?

You may also want to add in the legacy section the Taz-Mania character Francis X. Bushlad, who was clearly based on the subject character216.183.185.84 (talk) 16:40, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
