Three dramatic pieces[edit]

The source states that he wrote "some poems, three dramatic pieces", but so did his son Francis Fane (dramatist) who had the same name, and is a noted Restoration person. The family seems to have had a literary bent and the biographies of several other members of the family note that they too produced various literary works. Is it a coincidence that Francis Fane the royalist, wrote three plays just like his son, or is it that the cited source is confusing the two? At least another source independent of the cited one is needed to confirm his authorship of the three plays. -- PBS (talk) 00:42, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Younger son of the 1st earl or an elder son of the 2nd earl[edit]

See the section Talk:Francis Fane (dramatist)#Grandson of the first earl for a discussion about the contradictions in two articles in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography over whether this man was a younger son of the 1st earl of Westmorland or an elder son of the 2nd earl. As the older cited sources go with younger son of the 1st earl that is what is used in this article. --PBS (talk) 21:32, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mother-in-law[edit]

"Fane married Elizabeth ..., the eldest daughter of William West ... and his wife Catherine Darcy ..., the daughter of Sir Edward Darcy"

Catherine isn't mentioned currently among the children of Edward. --INS Pirat (talk) 12:42, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Royal Society Expellee[edit]

Why was he expelled from that Society ? He seems respectable, an old soldier of the King...
