Page move to Texas State Highway 122[edit]

Does anyone object me moving this page to Texas State Highway 122? The future section in Fort Bend County south of State Highway 6 crossing the Brazos River to State Highway 99 will not be a tollway. By moving to the proposed page name, we will be able to cover the toll and free sections of this road. Fort Bend Parkway is officially designated as Texas State Highway 122 by the state. Object. I scouted this out and did not see a single SH 122 sign. I will admit that the scouting was rather incomplete, as I ran out of quarters before I ran out of Toll Road to drive and there wasn't a good parallel street to follow. The Toll Road is not co-signed with the state road, nor is the access road (there isn't actually a sustained feeder road that it could be), as in the case of Beltway 8/Sam Houston Tollway, nor were there any exits pointing to SH 122. According to one source I found (TxDOT), 122 from the Beltway to SH 6 was removed from the state highway system in 2003. The designation file does not list any certified mileage, though it does still list the road as following the general path of the FBCPTR. Best I can tell (and I didn't find your source for this), SH 122 is a future road more than anything else. If someone can prove me wrong on these points, feel free to enlighten me, and I will be more than happy to support the move then. Souperman 02:23, 25 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It's my understanding that it originally was supposed to be a state highway but funding for the highway at the state level was never approved. So instead, Harris County built the Harris County section, and Fort Bend County built the Fort Bend section. Since it was built and funded by each county's respective toll road authority and received no state funding, it is not a state highway. The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) website confirms that State Highway 122 was "removed from the state highway system" [1]. --WisTex 07:25, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Why was this merged with Texas State Highway 122? NOWHERE ANYWHERE on the toll road is a sign that says Texas 122. Also, the state has officially removed Texas 122 from the state highway system for that section of road. I updated the page to make it clear that Texas 122 is a proposed road and does not actually exist in real life at this time. If it does get built, it would connect to the tollway, but the tollway would never be signed as Texas 122. TxDOT's removal of the designation of Texas 122 from north of SH 6 confirms this. Also, it is possible that TX 122 will never be built, if Fort Bend decides they do not want to wait for the state to build the road or if the state never allocates any money. This is exactly why the Fort Bend Toll Road exists now. Texas 122 has only existed on paper with no funding. --WisTex (talk) 00:00, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
