Star of Vergina[edit]

"It originated from the vergina tombs on a golden casket from the tomb of Philip, father of Alexander The Great. But this archaeological find had already long been a part of Greek identity - causing a massive diplomatic row""

"Similar abuses occurred during the Balkans conflicts following Yugoslavia's break-up - not just in Macedonia, but throughout the region, argued Stasa Babic of Belgrade University"

Image copyright problem with Image:SocialstMacedonia1944-1946.gif[edit]

The image Image:SocialstMacedonia1944-1946.gif is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

Changing the name of this article[edit]

I think that the name of this article should be named as The flag of Macedonia (country) because that's the name of the image and now the name of the article for the country is changed to Macedonia... --1111tomica (talk) 15:06, 30 May 2009 (UTC)1111tomica--1111tomica (talk) 15:06, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Greek symbol[edit]

OK. To end all this edit warring I propose to change: "as Greece considered it a Greek symbol" to "as Greece considered it an exclusively Greek symbol". This would have the advantage of acknowledging the Macedonian idea that the symbol is by association also a Macedonian symbol, and clarifying the Greek position that it isn't. It also has the advantage of acknowledging that the symbol is indeed a Greek symbol. Gerard von Hebel (talk) 16:47, 1 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Flags proposed in 1990[edit]

I was recently reading a book and discovered that there was in 1990 a proposition by a political party to replace the socialist flag of Macedonia with a Macedonian tricolour of black red and white, It is a secondary source citing primary sources. I have not been able to find the primary sources online but I have read them and the arrangement of the first two colours was in a process of debate. I have recereated the flag and plan to post a section about it in the flags page. - ConstantineBigTeeth

@ConstantineBigTeeth: That's heading towards original research, which you should not do on Wikipedia. (Please sign your posts with four tildes: ~~~~ which will automatically insert your user name and a timestamp.) Bazza (talk) 09:25, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Alternative flag proportion[edit]

TrueAuraCoral has added an alternatively proportioned flag to the infobox. I reverted that, but rather than follow WP:BRD with a discussion here, TrueAuraCoral has again inserted the alternative. I have again removed it and started this discussion.

  • The Design section of the article states the proportions of the flag are 1:2. The article shows the flag concerned, but only as a non-adopted proposal. If it is, as TrueAuraCoral asserts, a formal alternative, then a reference needs to be provided to state that, and referenced amendments also made to the Design section.
