It's First[edit]

the company was set up as transpennine express ,their website is transpenninexpress.co.uk ,the department for transport call them transpennine express or (TPE) http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/rail/pi/wcml/wcms2008timetables/wcmstranspenninetimetable ,manchester Piccadilly screens call them Transpennine express ,Digital Doris at Manchester Piccadilly last time I heard called them Transpennine express and lastly they are joint venture between First and Keolis.

That is the fair point I am trying to make, i'm not trying to be a nuisance and i'm not trying to damage wikipedia as i use it a fair bit for my college work, However I feel that both names should be related to in the article and I think i'm making a valid point here.

Ok, here is a fact. Despite many name changes, the company is called First TPE. Fact. Keolis call it TPE, because they reject First throwing their name about. Anything else that calls them TPE is out of date or ignorant. the website is tpexpress dot com because they can't be bothered to change it (again), and maybe because Keolis objected.

I don't see the need for anyone to get in a fluster here, im not trying to make a point nor am i trying to be difficult, all i am saying is i think that transpennine express should be a name variation mentioned, its no big deal

This needs to be sorted, what is it with all the names "also known as". It looks stupid and silly. The company name is First TransPennine Express regardless of what it has been in the past. I dont see what the problem about this is. Year1989 16:01, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The reason why I added "also known as.... etc." is because there was a user who would not take it that the name is FTPE! It was appeasement.

As a regular traveller on TPE services I notice that the announcements and most signage and the trains livery mostly say only Transpennine Express and that the only bit to cnnect it with First is the First Group "F" logo except on the route maps above the doors which do have the full "First transforming travel" symbol also the legal name of the company is First/Keolis Transpennine Ltd. so perhaps the article should be called Transpennine Express as opposed to First Transpennine Express. I have to disagree with your statement about announcements; they always start with, "Welcome aboard this First Transpennine Express service to..." The same is usually true for the station announcements, although the departure boards do tend to leave off the 'First' - possibly due to space constraints. It is widely accepted amongst us staff that they call themself something different each week. In a letter from the their solicitors last week, they abbreviated the company's full, actual title of First Keolis Transpennine Express Ltd to just "F.K. Hunts Cross[edit]

I thought you missed out Humberside, but then it looks like there isn't one (certainly {{WikiProject Lincolnshire}} includes reference to Barton-upon-Humber).

24 hour service[edit]

The text reads as of 23 April 2014, "First TransPennine Express is one of the few UK train operating companies running 24 hours a day, including through New Year's Eve night. For example, trains run between York, Leeds and Manchester Airport at least every three hours every night of the week." But once every three hours during the night can imply as little as

  • last train at 2300
  • "middle-of-the-night train" at 0200
  • start of new day at 0500.

Adding one train in the middle of the night, that's not really a 24-hour service, now is it? Does anyone mind if I/we remove this claim? Classical geographer (talk) 10:48, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Future rolling stock[edit]

North TransPennine routemap[edit]

Afternoon folks,

The route diagram for the North TransPennine route appears to be the updated one for the new franchise from the May 2018 change, and therefore is not appropriate for this article.
