Untitled[edit]

I think there is an error on this page, but as I have never edited a Wikipedia page before, I wanted to suggest the edit in this space first. Forgive me if I make any of the predictable mistakes of a novice while doing so.

This page currently states that "in 2005, [Maazel] was awarded a Lannan Literary Fellowship." This, to my mind, is close to being factually true, but the change of a couple of words makes it exaggerated to the point of being misleading. If you look at the Lannan Foundation's website (in particular, the pages dedicated to the Lannan Residency Program), you can see that Maazel was indeed the recipient of a "Lannan Writing Residency Fellowship." However, a Lannan Literary Fellowship is a different award entirely. A "Lannan Writing Residency Fellowship" means the recipient spends a month or two in Marfa, Texas. A "Lannan Literary Fellowship" means a monetary award of something on the order of $75,000 (I'm afraid I can't seem to find an exact figure; suffice it to say that tens of thousands of dollars is very different from a month in West Texas). So Judy Budnitz, for example, can be properly described as the recipient of a "2005 Lannan Literary Fellowship." Maazel cannot.

I hope that this is a helpful contribution, and I look forward to the feedback of more knowledgeable and experienced Wikipedia editors.

Done[edit]

No idea about the ins and outs of literary fellowships and residencies, I'm afraid. I started the entry because I read a review of the book and was intrigued. (Obviously I then read the book). Please do consider adding any information that you think would be relevant.
