Nintendo[edit]

With Nintendo serving as the publisher of Fatal Frame IV, there's a rumor going around that Nintendo may have actually bought the IP rights to the Fatal Frame series from Namco. rating claim bias?[edit]

A line from the article was removed because of a claim of bias.

"Given the themes and content of the previous releases in the series (such as ritual sacrifice), the game is expected to be rated M for mature by the ESRB in the USA making it one of the few Wii games to be classified as such."

personally, I don't really think it hurts the article to cut that bit out, as it's pretty obvious that it won't be rated G, but how exactly was that line biased? Given that part two is frequently heralded as the scariest game of all time and portrays a storyline where one identical twin murders another in a form of ritual sacrifice, I don't think I'm showing any bias by claming the game will likely be rated for mature audiences. I also think it's noteworthy to show that more mature aimed games are being released for the wii these days, alongside titles like mario.--Aceya (talk) 17:47, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I guess the term there that made it sounded bias was the "... in the USA...". Well, I guess they should have removed that part. Also, the text is constantly implying the rating which made it a bit, let's just say off the topic in the article.--JCD (Talk) 03:43, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bugs in released game[edit]

According to this article, the game has been released in Japan with some serious bugs and glitches. Nintendo of Japan have responded to the complaints here. Does anyone know someone who can translate Japanese so we know whether there's been a Product recall like there was when Forever blue was released in Japan. Gesshoku?[edit]

Some sources romanize the subtitle as Gesshoku no Kamen, yet I don't see why. Can anyone figure this out? --M.A. (talk) 12:08, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Checking with Jim Breen's WWWJDIC only Gesshoku means Lunar Eclipse while Tsukihami doesn't (not even the produced words are the same as the original), but that could be just missing "translation. --M.A. (talk) 12:14, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
They're probably taking it directly from the kanji's other readings, while people using "tsukihami" are using the official version (from the logo, trailer etc.). Name change?[edit]

I found a article just recentley stating that a source from tecmo says the game won't make it to america as Fatal Frame IV. Either the IV is dropped for a regular game. Then there is it will not be released under Fatal Frame at all instead a new title and new series. i'll look for it again.--VampireKen (talk) 19:45, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As of now, it hasn't been released in the US and likely never will be. "Fatal Frame IV" is a completely unofficial title (though it likely would have been called that if it got a US release) but fans of the series often refer to it this way for sake of reference. 76.25.139.167 (talk) 07:38, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

December 3, 2009?[edit]

Someone has edited the article to claim that NOA has changed their mind and will release the game in the US on December 3, 2009. The citation, however, links to an article that says that Fatal Frame 4 will never be released in the U.S. I can also find no evidence that Tecmo has made any announcements on a release date for FF4 in the US. I haven't had the chance to play this entry in the series yet. But plan on, once my Japanese gets better! Rather not play the translation.

  • Not sure about this, but since the only official title is Zero: Tsukihami no Kamen, would it make more sense to give the article that name? Why are we mentioning an unofficial title at all in this article?
  • It's what I found when I came here, and it seemed suitable. It appears to be how it's commonly referred to outside Japan. So I decided to leave it as it was, but present its Japanese title in the lead first due to it not releasing outside Japan. Like Valkyria Chronicles III.

Lead

  • unlink "video game" and "video game console" WP:OLINK
  • Trim "Nintendo Software Planning & Development" to "Nintendo", leave SPD for the infobox and dev section
  • received critical acclaim - seems like a strong phrase given the mixed to positive reviews
  • All sorted.

Gameplay

  • Link "sanitorium", maybe I'm dumb but I didn't know what this was
  • that is rare and difficult to find - redundant, just pick one phrase to use
  • Shots taken by the Camera...In addition to the Camera...gestures with the Remote - I understand why you capitalized camera and remote here, but unless you use the full name Camera Obscure or Wii Remote, I think it should be lower case. Looks odd otherwise.
  • All sorted.

Synopsis

  • Very well written, nice job.

Development

  • This meant that concerns were raised - Might sound better as "This raised concerns..."
  • The game's key color was yellow. - This is just thrown in there with no context. Either expand upon it or remove it. Too bad the source doesn't go into it much more. Might sound better like "The color yellow was chosen as a central theme and highlighted in the game's art design"
  • Sorted.

Release

  • Its release was apparently timed to - remove "apparently", because it was indeed timed
  • along with attempting to make the translation as true as possible without going too far - What does "without going too far" even mean? maybe rather say "without being too verbose" or something similar.
  • able to do that last 20% - "able to do THE last 20%"
  • Sorted.

Reception

  • The first paragraph has sales figures and a japanese review, while the second has all West reviews. May want to lead into the second paragraph by saying like "In western reviews" or something like that, or otherwise put the Famitsu review in paragraph two so first paragraph is sales and second is critical reception.
  • In most other respects was highly positive - "...respects HE was..." or reword somehow because this part sounds weird
  • Sorted.

  • Why IMDB? How about moby games instead?
  • I didn't put it there, just forgot to remove it. Now removed.

I've attended to everything you mentioned. Also, I did my best with the translated title. Down in the release section is now a sentence on that subject, with multiple sources for its common names. Out of them, "Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse" appears to be slightly more common.
