Genres[edit]

A genre warrior has been busy at this an a bunch of other related articles. Blocked now, he nevertheless inadvertently threw some light on the lacking of sources for the genres. I've been searching for sources for experimental rock and proto-punk. The former is easy and I found several. As for proto-punk, there are many sources that label the band as proto-punk and specifically the first album as proto-punk, a few describing the songs as a collection as proto-punk songs. However, there's not too much written about this song and what there is talks about noise and experimental music or rock. Can a solid source describing the songs on The Velvet Underground & Nico as proto-punk cover this song by itself in this article? The music is often called proto-punk and there are good sources, but removing a genre because of that formality seems wrong. As you probably noticed, I was the person that removed that ref. While I personally think the song is proto-punk, I'm against including any genre without a proper source. In recent times there has been an awful lot of genre-warring, and the best defence against it has been the removal of anything unreferenced. I think it's hypocritical to then include something unreferenced based on my personal feelings. But, as ever, I hunch with the bunch. Doctorhawkes (talk) 05:36, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Chuck Berry riff?[edit]

Really? Its just a power chord with the major third emphasized? Like Sunshine Of Your Love. Not a riff. Not really a chuck berry ism either. I edited it. anyone please feel free to add more or less to it or ignore it cause its a random old song. It also goes to a G chord.
