Untitled[edit]

I changed the part where it said he is able to play for Algeria because he can't both his parents were born in France and he was born in Spain and he doesn't own an Algerian citizenship — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iamsocool290 (talkcontribs) 09:36, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ouville-l'Abbaye[edit]

I deleted following sentence in the personel life section: "Il a joué a ouville l'abbaye" ("he played in ouville l'abbaye", sort of).
Ouville-l'Abbaye is a tiny rural village, and I doubt there is a youth football club. Also, Zidanes youth clubs are chronicled from 1999 to date, meaning he must've been 4 or 5 playing for Ouville-l'Abbaye in the north of France, while he was born in the south of France in Bordeaux.
I couldn't find anything about Zindane playing in Ouville, so I deleted the sentence.

Deletions[edit]

His mother's maiden name was chosen as his last name to keep the press away during his younger years. I thought predicting the future was not encyclopedic? It's funny how this article was not deleted when notability hasn't been established! Cristian Benavente's was nominated for deletion and played for Peru's U-21 team! Raul17 (talk) 05:25, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Raul17: His notability is correct because it may pass WP:GNG. Benavente could not pass it at that time, but now it's fine (pass WP:FOOTY). MYS77 22:28, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
MYS77: At the time as article, Enzo was still a junior player who has not played for a national nor U21 team. If I recall correctly, Cristian's article was deleted after playing for Peru's national team! Enzo did not received significant coverage until his father was named coach to Castilla with the absurd notion he would be playing for Castilla even though he was not featured at Juvenil A. Thanks! Enzo FernándezEnzo Zidane – Per WP:COMMONNAME. here, here. --Panam2014 (talk) 19:26, 1 July 2017 (UTC) --Relisting.Guanaco 07:06, 12 July 2017 (UTC)--Relisting. Winged Blades Godric 09:41, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. Neither of the examples given by the nom are English. And individual examples are poor evidence anyway. Andrewa (talk) 09:46, 19 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. The player chooses Enzo Fernández. --Zigurat (talk) 12:31, 21 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Even tough he is the son of zidane, he still uses the name fernandez and all sources confirm it. --DM Trix (talk) 11:22, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Name[edit]

His popular name is neither Enzo Zidane nor Enzo Fernandez. It's just Enzo. Enzo (footballer) is correct.--HSV1887 (talk) 17:50, 11 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Juve[edit]

Is there a source for him 'playing' for Juventus between the ages of 2 and 5? Is that not a bit ridiculous? Crowsus (talk) 22:03, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Enzo Fernández (footballer, born 1995)Enzo (footballer) – The article itself says the player is commonly known as "Enzo". In French sources, he is almost always known as Enzo Zidane, and in other sources, Enzo Zidane and Enzo Fernández seem to be used commonly. The middle ground is just "Enzo", which seems to be what the article says is the common name anyways, therefore this is the correct move for this player. Paul Vaurie (talk) 10:37, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support Enzo Zidane, it seems early on he preferred to use his maternal surname but switched later on, and that using Zidane is both more common nowadays and WP:NATURAL.--Ortizesp (talk) 14:08, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. Paul Vaurie (talk) 20:33, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose as suggested because there are multiple footballers called 'Enzo' and the proposed title is ambiguous (this is why I am generally against articles on Spanish players only using the first name). Instead support move to Enzo Zidane as that is name used nowadays, see e.g. this from last month. GiantSnowman 08:35, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • (edit conflict) Support Enzo Zidane move. Seems reasonable per Ortizesp and GiantSnowman. Paul Vaurie (talk) 20:47, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
