This article should also include a section on the EU's Environmental Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), since it is the strictest environmental management system and fairly wide spread in Europe, and now also being introduced world-wide. Penderock (talk) 15:00, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article is displaying ISO 1400 instead of ISO 14001, original text contains "..." structure when linking to ISO 14001 page.

FSC[edit]

No mentioning of Chain of Custody certificate whilst that is the most common certificate.

Negative[edit]

Certification is expensive:

Initial costs may seem high but are nothing more than normal business costs of obtaining a license to operate. Especially obtaining licenses/permits in countries high on the list of corrupt countries is by far more costly. Normative standards like ISO can reduce the costs of doing business with a fair amount, bringing it to a level seen 'normal' for the investing entities. For existing companies with 'bad habits' already in the working procedure, the internal costs of changing attitude will be high. Certification costs are, as expected, well documented and more or less, per site, in the range of (US$ 2015) $2880~$4000 per certification/audit^[1]. Excluding costs for travel and stay for auditors. As per ISO 19011 and other auditor normative standards, a customer for certification will have full insight in the procedures. If there is an expensive costs, it will be the consultancy fees^[2].
