The scandal[edit]

@Victuallers: @Tagishsimon: After some kerfuffle about Scrutton, there is now an adequate account, I think, of the industrial school scandal, and Surr's part in it. There are of course further details in the sources.

The scandal may well have notability on its own. Greater coverage in this article might not be proportionate. Thomas Urquhart Scrutton is probably of marginal notability, but sources have come to light. A book used in the Ted Martin reference is something I could hope to find in the Cambridge University Library in normal times. Anyway, enough for the present. @Charles Matthews: Brilliant bit of work Charles. I was troubled that the scandal was not mentioned in the Thomas Scrutton biography - you have shown why - wrong one. Not only that, you have added extra layers to the scandal's exposure. As you say this could be an article in its own right as there are several others involved. I had been thrilled that we had found her birth and death date as they were missing in the ODNB - but we now have so much more. Some woman! to leave in her 70s for California to live on her son's ranch. Keep safe. best regards Roger aka Victuallers (talk) 07:56, 22 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
