Depression[edit]

The condition of 'clinical depression' requires a medical diagnosis. If a person states that they feel 'depressed', without such a diagnosis, this should be entered into the biography as 'depression (mood)' ---- Michael David 12:46, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

She was being treated as an outpatient in a psychiatric facility in Pittsburgh at the time of her death. That's more than being in a 'mood'.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.138.202.18 (talkcontribs) 19:25, 13 November 2006
Articles from the time of her death note that she suffered from depression and signs of other mental illness for years. An article in the San José Mercury-News says that she was "under a doctor's care" for depression at the time of her death, and a 2500+ word article in the San Francisco Chronicle is all about her lifelong struggles with mental illness; it states that at the time of her death, she was walking daily to the "Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic" for her outpatient visits.("Real-Life Tragedy: Oscar nominee loses long battle with mental illness," San Francisco Chronicle, October 11, 1987) I'm working on incorporating it into the present WP article. 1/30/09 I added the reference to her performance of "Balaam" at The Pasadena Repertory Theatre. I was a production assistant on that show and became her friend for a short time. I also have a non-clinical Ph.D. in experimental social psychology, and I can confirm that in the months following the play she was in what I would typify as a "depression (mood)". None-the-less, she was a wonderful, bright, sensitive, extremely talented actress whom I felt it was an honor and privilege to know.Time River (talk) 01:58, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Murder/suicide?[edit]

I cannot verify the murder claim (as opposed to suicide). Any reference? Obda 16:08, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
