2013 amendments[edit]

This article is badly outdated, not reflecting the 2013 amendments. I would try to update it, but I am still trying to find an authoritative explanation of the 2013 amendments in English. Wilfred Day (talk) 04:02, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article is not well written. The author tries to transliterate 'unnecessarily' the German terms: "mandate" is really electoral districts, directly elected to represent an electoral district. 'Bundeslaender' are best translated as "provinces", which are generally known as the political subdivision one level right below the national one. There are several stilted and difficult to digest formulations. Examples of past elections do not clarify the explanation. I edited the introductory paragraph to remove stilted and convoluted formulations by an English non-fluent writer to be more readable for English speaking readers. The Scrutiny of Elections section has this phrase

"If the Bundestag rejects the veto..."
