Peerage[edit]
I have referenced this site http://thepeerage.com/ a few times, is this reliable? About 99% of the information I have read (only a small amount of the site, I admit) has been correct. It seems to be well sourced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.194.37.84 (talk) 22:05, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm not disputing that the information may well be reliable. However there are concerns about including information like people's dates of birth in articles, since this can be used for e.g. identity fraud. I suggest this becomes compounded where we are dealing with minor figures who are not themselves the subject of articles. PatGallacher (talk) 02:04, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Oh I'm not disputing the information being removed :) I just wasn't sure if thepeerage.com is considered reliable —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.194.37.84 (talk) 12:23, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
This article relies heavily on citations to thepeerage.com, which has been discussed at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard WP:RSN and determined that it is not a reliable source, and should not be used as references in articles.[1][2] The citations have been removed, but not the associated text, and tags inserted for the former footnotes. Self-published sources never can be used as references in a BLP. See WP:BLPSPS Better sources must be found for this text; text that is not supported by in-line citation to a reliable source may be removed.Fladrif (talk) 23:39, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
