Rewrite[edit]

I just effectively rewrote this article (which I'd been meaning to create), adding in details and also adding the section on historiography (which I think is useful in indicating that readers should be cautious about details about this war). I also made several changes to the initial table, including switching the outcome from territorial gain by Ecuador to a return to the status quo ante bellum. Someone who speaks Spanish better than I may be able to add a lot more. Weisacre 19:00, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rename[edit]

the correct name would be New Granada-Ecuador War since it was a war between New Granada and Ecuador. Colombia did not exist basically. --((F3rn4nd0 ))(BLA BLA BLA) 16:59, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite: Wrong date and sources[edit]

Besides this article doesn't have reliable references, the editors are wrong about the subject treated herein.

The article (and its source, which seems to be this website) relates what happened during the Battle of Cuaspud (Batalla de Cuaspud in Spanish), which took place in 1863, however the real Colombian-Ecuadorian War occurred in 1832, as has been written in the Spanish Wikipedia (here) with clear references.--Shadowxfox (talk) 17:49, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification Needed[edit]

I've read all these comments here and I'm a bit confused;

Are you guys saying this war of 1863 was just one isolated battle, and that the real war happened in 1832? Am I getting this right? FatMax1492 (talk) 08:12, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

clarification[edit]

there were 2 wars one in 1832 that lasted almost all that year it started when ecuador took position of several territories of the encontes new granada, also when those territories joined ecuador not everyone was satisfied and the new granada (now colombia) did not like this and they began the confrontations that ended with the Colombian or New Granada victory, although the combat forces are unknown and just as dead. this war is known as the cauca war.

on the other hand, the war of 1863 is a more complex and difficult to explain war that is linked to the civil war of those years, although the confrontations began at the end of 1863, ending with the Colombian victory in Cuaspud, the conflict began in the early 1960s, producing the battle of tulcan and many skirmishes although you can consult the spanish wikipedia searching guerra del cauca 1832,batalla de tulcan,batalla de cuaspud — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hailcolombia2009 (talkcontribs) 05:24, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
