Possible Improvements to make this page better.[edit]

I would like to see more on the evolution of Ebolavirus. Since there are 5 different strains of the virus plus the strains of Marburgvirus, Evolutionists have been given the opportunity to study the evolution of a virus with a relatively small genome and this I feel deserves more attention. There is a large wealth of relevant information that is not included in this article.

Secondly, I would like to see more attention drawn to the relationship that Marburgvirus and Ebolavirus have with each other. Although this page is about Ebolavirus, it is still important discuss Marburgvirus and the similarities that these two share.

Lastly, I feel as if there should be more on the research effort that is being done with Ebolavirus. Although the focus is primarily EBOV (due to the current outbreak in West Africa), there is still a large amount of work being done to understand the 4 other strains and that work has not received due justice in this article.

I am aware that there are at least a dozen articles on the topic of Ebola and the strains of it and that some of the suggestions above may be found in other articles, but I feel that it is still important to mention these in article, since it is about the general Ebolavirus genome.

Rates of genetic change[edit]

The article says "Rates of genetic change are ... one fourth as fast as influenza A in humans". But the page on Ebola virus disease says that the rates are "100 times slower than influenza A in humans". Is one of the statements incorrect? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.22.227.14 (talk) 17:47, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Latest ICTV naming[edit]

ebolavirus I thought this article was perfect, but I kept seeing Zaire mentioned everywhere so I checked the source which I believe decides the naming. It seems the correct name is Zaire ebolavirus. Calling it just Ebola seems to have ended in 1995. Am I missing something? Experts in this field please comment before I go and mess it up in the article...Greenbe (talk) 19:21, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
