Category:Derailments[edit]

@Daniel Case: May I remind you that it's WP:BRD. You added the Category:Derailments, which I undid, giving a clear reason in my edit summary. Any derailment that occurred was as a result of the accident, not a cause of it. I'm not happy that you misused rollback to revert my undo. Mjroots (talk) 16:26, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Mjroots: I didn't use rollback, I used undo (or else I would not have been able to add a reason). A derailment is a type of accident, not a cause, as I said when reverting. As the article says:

A derailment is said to take place when a vehicle such as a train runs off its rails ... Although many derailments are minor, all result in temporary disruption of the proper operation of the railway system, and they are potentially seriously hazardous to human health and safety. Usually, the derailment of a train can be caused (emphasis mine) by a collision with another object, the mechanical failure of tracks, such as broken rails, or the mechanical failure of the wheels.

Derailments have their own set of causes, which at some point in the future I think we may want to subcategorize them by. For now I am including in the category every article about an individual rail accident that states that, as part of the accident, the train derailed in whole or part. Incorrect comment struck, sorry. Mjroots (talk) 17:47, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
