Don Freeman biographical information is false[edit]

Recently someone filled in the opening biographical information on my father, Don Freeman, (the children's book author) with total nonsense! That he was born in China, for instance (he was born in San Diego). It used to be correct, now it is ridiculous! What happened? Please let me know what to do about this. I do not want to correct it if it just gets mixed up again. But I cannot leave it as is with such nonsense! Thanks for any help/advice! Best wishes, Roy Freeman Royfreeman (talk) 13:21, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Freeman's Exhibitions at the Margo Feiden Galleries in New York[edit]

Hi, I would like to expand upon Don Freeman's exhibitions at the Margo Feiden Galleries in New York City, in particular to include the citation he received from the City of New York. I would like to add the following content, replacing one line about the Gallery that is currently in the "Career" section. I am submitting it here first because of a potential COI.

Freeman exhibited his drawings, oils, and prints, including his limited-edition self-published periodical, Don Freeman's Newsstand, at the Margo Feiden Galleries Ltd. in New York City. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] On March 30, 1976, at the Gallery's opening for Freeman's one-man retrospective show, Freeman was presented with a citation from the City of New York signed by Mayor Abraham D. Beame. [7] [8]

Revision for Proposed Content[edit]

I would like to revise my suggested contribution in order to better illustrate the significance of the 1976 Citation as well as the 1976 and 1978 exhibitions. I would like to propose the following content, which I am submitting here first for commentary because of a possible COI. I will leave this suggested contribution here for one week, so that members of the Wikipedia community can offer their thoughts on it before I make any edits. I look forward to hearing your comments:

In 1976, Don Freeman was recognized by the City of New York for his body of work portraying the city. The New York Daily News reported on the Citation from Mayor Abraham D. Beame, which was presented to Freeman at the opening of his one-man retrospective exhibition at the Margo Feiden Galleries Ltd. in Greenwich Village. [1] In a measure of Freeman's national fame, The Christian Science Monitor also covered the 1976 exhibition as well as a 1978 retrospective also held at that gallery, both of which showcased Freeman's drawings, oils, prints, and his limited-edition self-published periodical, Don Freeman's Newsstand. Update[edit]

I have added some information and citations. I also edited the part about Freeman studying with Sloan et al. He studied under him, based on the sources I found. Please let me know if there's a problem with this correction or feel free to update accordingly. Thanks! - Darwin Naz (talk) 23:37, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
