Why prod and / or speedy deletion is inappropriate[edit]

To save more people making the mistake of trying to have this redirect deleted with a prod or a speedy delete tag, let me point out the applicable principles:

From Wikipedia:PROD#How_it_works

1. "Additionally, only articles may be proposed for deletion using {{prod}}. Deletion of other pages, including redirects, should be proposed at the appropriate deletion page or tagged for speedy deletion, if applicable."

From Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion

2. "If a page has survived a prior deletion discussion, it may not be speedily deleted, except in the case of newly discovered copyright infringements."

This is a redirect, therefore ground 1 applies and a prod cannot be used. Those checking the talk page and / or the history before tagging this redirect for deletion (as they should) will notice that this redirect has survived a prior attempt at deletion at WP:RFD; therefore ground 2 applies and a speedy delete tag cannot be used.

If you are unsure of the principles of using prod and / or speedy delete, please check before use. Regards, BencherliteTalk 17:38, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please delete this redirect[edit]

Why is this unencyclopedic $#!! preserved, why can't an admin use WP:IAR and delete this? I see we get bogged down in red tape and petty policies where this is clear against anything that Wikipedia stands for. man with one red shoe 18:36, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because someone will see the admin's WP:IAR and raise her a WP:DRV. --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 19:29, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why does this redicted to star wars?[edit]

I see no link or reason? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andy Lowson (talkcontribs) 21:08, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

From the redirect target, with my emphasis:
The mis-translation also caused the vulgar word "fuck" (a mis-translation of "work") to appear three times in the subtitles, and rendered Darth Vader's cry of "Noooooooo" (不要) as "Do not want." This last translation error would later be popularized as an internet meme.
And start new topics at the bottom please. --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 22:05, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Need to be fixed.[edit]

This redirect has no place in an encyclopedia. If it has any merit then it should be written as it's own article or a paragraph in the main article. Spacemonkeynz (talk) 09:21, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the above section "Why does this redicted to star wars?". --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 17:44, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget[edit]

Am I the only one who thinks this should be retargeted to thou shalt not covet? Perhaps turn the page into a disambiguation? I would use RFD but this has probably been discussed before. --User J. Dalek (talk | contribs) 02:06, 29 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This should be redirected to Star_Wars:_Episode_III_–_Revenge_of_the_Sith because it's a double redirect. Niceguy149 (talkcontributionslogs) 21:26, 2 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
