The article currently describes the canal as a "ship-canal", built in 1775.
Many canals were built in the 18th century. But they were generally barge canals.

Probably because several languages don't really distinguish between barge and ship. IMHO the traffic is limited to barges. Everybody got to be somewhere! (talk) 16:41, 17 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
