Plastic surgery[edit]

The article describes her as an advocate against plastic surgery, yet she clearly had a nosejob between the Godfather and Annie Hall... shouldn't that contradiction at least be mentioned in passing, if her views on plastic surgery must be mentioned at all? Birthplace, school[edit]

I just updated the "early life" section of the Diane Keaton article. It had listed her birthplace incorrectly as Santa Ana, Ca. But in a public radio interview, Diane Keaton said "I was born in Highland Park..." which is a suburb of Los Angeles. You can hear her say it by listening to the real audio archive of the show here:

Also, I personally asked her, yes - in person, where she was born, and she told me the exact hospital in Los Angeles. She told me where she went to elementary school, but I assume these details are too obscure to include in this article. So please don't change the birthplace back to Santa Ana.

Kind of tangential, but Fitzgerald didn't write The Great Gatsby in Los Angeles. As the book's article states, he wrote it in Great Neck, New York. As far as I can tell, he never even LIVED in Los Angeles. I've changed the article to reflect this. I also tidied some grammar here and there, but this article's looking really good! Actress?[edit]

An actor is a person who acts, regardless of gender. An actress is implicitly female. I prefer using actor mainly because it's considered more grammatically correct. Keeping on touch with the actor thing. The opening of the article reads, "Diane is an American producer, director, and actor. I think it would make more sense if it was, "actor, director, producer" seeing as how she is more well known as an actor(actress). I'm gonna change it.

Just as when some one is baptized into a religion they can never be unbaptized although some people get excommunicated but they will always have been baptized or a former follower of a religion. It's just like you are or you aren't pregnant. Once you are you have been even though it may be terminated, prematurely birthed, die in childbirth or adopted out. Is she still spiritual? That is another question to be determined. This is, in my opinion, an interesting and well written article about an actor. That just about straightened up my impression of wikipedia's featured article selection! It was a big disappointment for me when wikipedia's front page one day not long ago featured the not quite so well-written Katie Holmes article. I'm sure some of you remember that goof. In reference to Keaton's relationship with Woody Allen, the article states that 'by the time they made films together their romantic involvement had ended'. But then in the next paragraph, discussing Annie Hall, Allen is described as her 'paramour at the time' of the making of that film. Which is the case?

TV roles[edit]

For anyone wanting to expand the section on her early work... I was surprised recently to see her in the first segment of episode 2 of the first season of 'The Night Gallery'. . .towards the end of 1970.

How many stage and Broadway actors are eminently known in that industry and yet are virtually unknown elsewhere? That stage productions do not get television coverage until some television or cinema actor appears for a six month limited appearance? That very well is what the visual arts entertainment is when it comes to known or unknown. If she was making guest appearances in television it most probably during that time period in Los Angeles where at the same time was a significant amount of cinema production. So who knows her and what counts as a career she can bank upon are two different things. Is she to be discounted by making commercials between films when other aspirants wait tables? She being born in the Los Angeles area discounts her desire to succeed in the business is discounted versus that of someone from elsewhere? Other activities[edit]

In the 'Other activities' section it says "Since 2006 Keaton has been the new face of L'Oreal." The use of the term 'new face' sounds like marketing terminology to me. The fact is that she is a paid endorser. I might have phrased it that she became a 'spokesperson' for L'oreal. Using the term 'new face' sounds like an attempt at glamorizing her commercial appearances.

Review of "The Good Mother"[edit]

The claim that the review of "The Good Mother" (1988) panned her performance in incorrect. In fact, the review lauded her performance in glowing terms. The quote cited in the entry did come from the Post review, but was taken out of context; the reviewer was saying how Keaton's performance was so good, ("outclasses the material"), that it exposed "phoniness in the writing", leading her acting "...to degenerate into hype...". Indeed, it is a lengthy review and seems to point to Keaton's performance as the main reason to see the movie, ending with the statement, "Even shackled to banalities, Keaton has the power to amaze." Missing information[edit]

Under Career, 1970: "Although by the time they made films together, their romantic involvement had ended,..."

Nothing prior to that point in the article even suggests that she had a "romantic involvement" -- with anyone, much less Allen. Directing career.[edit]

Is a short separate section needed to expand on the movies and TV shows (especially "Twin Peaks") she has directed? I'd like more info about her role as a director, how she started, why she stopped, how she got involved in some of them, etc. These projects could grouped in one place rather than just mentions sprinkled during career. Also, should these projects she directed be added to existing or as separate entry to her filmography? I think definitely, even if there's no section added to main article, but there's nothing there. Woody Allen films[edit]
