Balance Needed

If we are going to present an accurate portrayal of Mr. Levine, it should be balanced and reflect both his transgressions (currently the majority of his profile) and accomplishments since. Clearly, and unlike most people, he has openly acknowledged his past mistakes, but he has led a productive and exemplary life for some 24 years, contributing to helping others and resuming his business activities. For example, I understand he lectures on ethics at universities to help young students avoid the mistakes he has made.

Indeed, I met Mr. Levine at the Seoul Digital Forum last year, where he was an outstanding contributor. (See: Seoul Digital Forum-2008, Korea) His presentation was insightful and demonstrated an in depth knowledge of world economics, finance and technology, and although I don’t condone what he did back in the 1980’s, I understand that he has acknowledged his guilt, paid his debt to society and put his life back together, which is not reflected in the Wiki-portrayal.

From an accuracy point of view, and since we are the same age, I know that Mr. Levine was born in 1952, not 1953, so I hope that other facts are verified accordingly. I just read the entire book Den of Thieves (great book btw) and it is quite clear and mentioned throughout the book that Levine's skills were not research at all... in fact, the book painted him to essentially be the ringleader of the first ring, and ineffective as both an investment banker. His 'wins' with 'research' came from inside information -- NOT from his 'voracious appetite' as this article states. I'd like to see a more precise reference detailing page numbers in Den of Thieves. European inside trading[edit]

I have deleted the following sentence at the end: "He also said that while working at Smith Barney's offices in Paris in the late 1970s, he noticed that insider trading and the use of offshore bank accounts was very common among European businessmen."

There is a very informative article on the editing of the Dennis Levine page on Wikipedia:
