Denis Jenkinson was also involved in establishing the sport of drag racing in the UK in the 1960s. He competed in an Allard dragster fitted with a Ford supercharged 1½ litre engine.Rupertlt (talk) 16:13, 13 March 2009 (UTC) I think Denis Jenkinson's earlier motorcycle was a NorBSA, a BSA Gold Star 500cc engine in a modified and lowered Norton frame. He competed on the bike at the Brighton Speed Trials Sept 14, 1963. For photograph see Motor Sport, Nov 1963, P916. Pacenotes[edit]

Moss & Jenks weren't the first to come up with the idea of pacenotes. Photographer/occasional passenger Louis Klementaski had used a very similar system during earlier runnings of the Mille Miglia (related in Chris Nixon's "Mon Ami Mate"), and they were used in the Carrera Panamericana by both the Lincoln (Leo Levine - "Ford: The Dust and the Glory") and Mercedes teams (see references on the Carrera Panamericana page). They may even have been used in pre-WW2 Turismo Carretera races in Argentina - Levine states that the Galvez brothers preferred to rely on their instincts to read the road rather than any form of notes, which at leasts suggests that other drivers were using them.Mr Larrington (talk) 14:07, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mille Miglia[edit]

In 1955, Denis Jenkinson navigated the winning car in the gruelling Mille Miglia with a time of 10 hours, 7 minutes and 48 seconds, 32 minutes ahead of the 5 time Formula One World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio.
