Merging with Sendmail[edit]

I think that the article is not notable enough to warrant its own page, but instead should be incorporated in some kind of history section on the Sendmail page. I'm not sure if there isn't any way of obtaining a copy of delivermail and actually write a proper article on its mechanics, though. 212.117.96.140 (talk) 11:02, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'd rather merge it with SMTP#History, which is missing a citation for the role that the passage from delivermail to sendmail played in the development of that protocol. However, a full article on the history of email might be a better idea. Dave Crocker in this email recognized that Wikipedia is authoritative on this subject. (The colleague he mentions is Carl S. Gutekunst, who pointed to Shiva Ayyadurai after the Washington Post's article on EMAIL invention.) ale (talk) 08:50, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
