 There is no source for the statement that its advice was ignored, which I believe to be untrue. I don't know if it is OR to say that I briefed a Service representative member of it for nearly 3 years, to late 1963, and it was far from ignored. It made many decisions on projects, which would go ahead and which not. It also laid down rules for presenting and assessing projects, notably that there had to be a "through costing" from the earliest R & D stage right through to the "in use" stage, i.e. the costs of R & D, production and purchase of the required numbers or quantities of the projects, including manpower costs. It was probably re-formed as a result of the dissolution of the old Service Departments.
