Year of birth[edit]

VIAF gives 1834 and 1838 as possible years of birth, admittedly there seems to be some disagreement. ... but it's probably going to confuse people when the first line says 1834 and the second paragraph says 1838. Schissel | Sound the Note! 16:49, 1 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

At least one biography is devoted to this composer, the 2003 David Braham: The American Offenbach: A Biography (Forgotten Stars of the Musical Theatre) by John Franceschina, published by Routledge. According to Franceschina, Braham was born in February 1834 in the Parish of St. George's, Middlesex, London (page 3- previewed at Amazon.com). Maybe one should go with this, citing this authority? I think it's more recent, anyway, and more specific (less likely to be merely relying on older authorities) than other sources, as it is a source specifically devoted to the composer, though that doesn't always, of course, in itself establish accuracy (if it were, then Newman and Walker would be equally right about Liszt... though admittedly, not equally recent.) Incorrect photo[edit]

The photograph on this page is not of David Braham (1835-1905) he is my g-g-grandfather.

I can't upload a family photo
