Dave Shaw (diver) → Dave Shaw – Sole Wikipedia main title header that uses the exact form "Dave Shaw", thus making the parenthetical qualifier "(diver)" unnecessary. Analogous to another unique header, Davie Shaw. — Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 02:56, 10 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose for now, per In ictu oculi. I am not seeing the case for this being the primary topic for this name. I also note the numerous people listed at David Shaw, for whom any one could hypothetically be known as "Dave"; we don't have the data on that before us. BD2412 T 01:51, 29 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Strong Support per COMMONNAME and PRIMARYTOPIC. The dab page for David Shaw (to which Dave Shaw currently redirects) lists only one entry with a title of "Dave Shaw". So in that sense this topic is arguably the only candidate for "Dave Shaw". Even if you include IIO's "Condensed Classics ..." and all the David Shaw uses (potential uses of "Dave Shaw") listed at the dab page [1], the diver is the clear primary topic for "Dave Shaw", and, if he were commonly known as "David Shaw", he would arguably be the primary topic for David Shaw as well. --В²C ☎ 22:02, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  - Of course, but it's secondary at best (or they would be at "Dave ...") and even if some of them are well-known enough as Dave to be often searched that way, the diver dominates the page view stats enough to clearly be primary for "Dave Shaw" and arguably even for "David Shaw". Support I'd never heard of this person, but the pageview stats are fairly convincing; although I think those numbers are inflated due to recent films. The Stanford football coach and the founder of DE Shaw would never be referred to as "Dave Shaw" (and the other entries are far lower than that), so I think this is the primary topic for Dave Shaw. Support Clear primary among topics that could reasonably be expected at "Dave Shaw." While it is entirely possible that some of the other subjects could have gone by the nickname Dave, without any actual evidence to indicate that is the case making that assumption would clearly be counter to aiding reader navigation.--Yaksar (let's chat) 17:55, 5 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
