Daniel Boone is NOT a Western[edit]

Yaphet Kotto[edit]

To Whom It May Concern,

I don't know if I'm in the right place or not but I've had a hard time finding the right place (why is this so complicated?), maybe you can pass this along. As I was watching an old episode of 'Daniel Boone' from the '60's with Fess Parker, I recognized somebody but couldn't remember his name so I watched the credits for it and the name 'Yaphet Kotto' came up. I didn't know where I recognized him from so I looked him up on your website and noticed you didn't have him credited with his guest role on the 'Daniel Boone' episode. He played a slave/prize fighter inherited by the Jimmy Dean character from an uncle which the Jimmy Dean character wound up giving him his freedom and a plot of land. I don't want any credit for the contribution (just a 'thank you' would suffise)and I'd rather leave the editing to one of your own editors.

Was this a recurring character or did he appear only once? It seems to me the article is mainly listing characters that appeared regularly. If the character appeared just once, but you feel he ought to be mentioned regardless, feel free to list your reasons. It would also be a good idea to give his name, and the episode in which he appeared. Finally, all editors are just people like yourself who read wikipedia and want to add something to it, so you should feel free to contribute what you want on the article page.--Luke Warmwater101 (talk) 13:35, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tonight Show tomahawk incident[edit]

I notice there's a "citation needed" after the statement " to Carson's amusement". There's no question Johnny Carson was amused after Ed Ames' tomahawk struck the target's genital area. There's millions of people who either saw this on live TV, or have seen the video through the years. What other verification is needed? Do you need a documented interview with Carson saying he thought it was funny? When there's millions of primary sources who witnessed Carson's reaction, what else do you need?Eelb53 (talk) 01:01 11 March 2012

Johnny's own commentary on his amusement in the decades of reruns of the incident fit the bill for a citation of his feelings. So you're right. Problem will be the hordes of wiki, and paid Russian military trolls with nothing better to do than attack articles, and editors in order to disrupt American intellectual resources. Other tactics they use are to point to the policy that says "material that is or is likely to be disputed must have a citation". But that doesn't mean a dispute from any ignorant jackass on the internet. It means citing a published dispute as a citation that there's a dispute. But the trolls don't obey, or understand that. They also organize dispute resolution by vote as consensus which is not what consensus in an encyclopedia is. Consensus is what the majority of cit-able sources say. Another ignorant demand of the trolls is to demand online citations as the policy says that information in articles must be inline with what the source says. But inline isn't the same thing as online. Not going to change. Especially with the likelihood that Russians, and others, pay the have sites not enforce sensible policy against their trolls.

Shooting the Bear[edit]

In the first (monochrome) season there is a scene during the opening credits where Daniel Boone shoots a bear. The Davy Crockett ballad says that he "kilt him a bar when he was only three". The Davy Crockett series never showed Davy shooting a bear. I think that "they" put the scene in Boone's opening credits as a reference to the Crockett series. It is also interesting that even though it appears that Dan'l is shooting the bear, it is not actually shown that way. The bear is shown, then Dan'l is shown shooting. Not necessarily any connection...

episode list[edit]
