The result of the move request was: Moved to Dan Wood (soccer), and the dab page moved to the base name.  — Amakuru (talk) 16:14, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dan Wood → ? – Is he the WP:primary topic for this name? If not, what is the best disambiguation, given his notability for both soccer and golf? wbm1058 (talk) 14:21, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Robert McClenon: I have reverted your bold move to Dan Wood (soccer). – wbm1058 (talk) 14:21, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:Wbm1058 - I will comment more within 24 hours. I was making the bold move on an idea that, when there are a large number of people, and none of them is particularly well-known, the best primary topic is the disambiguation page. I agree that the way to resolve this is by a move discussion. This is Bold, Revert, Discuss, I was bold; you reverted; we have a formal process for the discussion. I will comment more within 24 hours. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:44, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Dan Wood (soccer) per others in Category:Soccer players from New York (state) since Dan Wood (broadcaster) gets 103 views compared with 176 for the soccer player (views for both the base name and "Dan Wood (soccer)"). "Danny Wood" also gets way more views (8,776) [[1]]. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:51, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - The question here is whether the soccer player, who was also a golfer, is the Primary Topic. In my opinion, we may either conclude that Danny Wood, the musician, is the primary topic, or that there is no primary topic. If there is no primary topic, the target page should be the disambiguation page, and that is what the purpose of my move was. The table below shows total pageviews in 2019, average daily pageviews in the second half of 2019, and total pageviews in December 2019. I used that odd set of measurements because I initially thought that the metrics for Danny Wood were wrong.
  • Support Dan Wood (soccer) Very little interest as a golfer. Nigej (talk) 10:00, 19 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Comments[edit]

The broadcaster gets about the same number of hits as the soccer player, more or less depending on the timeframe in question. Danny Wood gets far more, but he is normally called Danny Wood, so that he isn't the primary topic. In my opinion, there is no primary topic.
