Discuss the phrase "Customer is King and Queen"

Just checking on the etymology. On [1], an impeccable etymology site, it lists an early 15th century switch from one who controls a customs house to one who frequents. I haven't been able to find a citation for the etymology listed in the article. Anyone have a citation?--TheGrza 22:17, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Is the customer Really King?

Prospects?

Are the people waiting in front of H&M really customers or prospects? They are prospects! The definititon is not entirely clear - especially since modern law seems to confuse the terminology. The UK Data Protection Act includes participants in a company's price draw in the list of customers (and they can therefore receive marketing material). This - however - is the exception. Does anyone know similar exceptions?

Picture

This picture is woefully inapplicable to this page. We're faced front and center with security guards for a chain retail store, which barely has more than a few "customers" waiting out front. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SirGrotius (talk • contribs) 18:46, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Removed prod

I removed the prod and restored it to a previous, more elaborate version. Anyone disagreeing with my bold action can of course, restore the prod and/or CSD, I will not revert. -- Logical Premise ^Ergo? 20:15, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Cleanup and citations

The article still reads like a high school essay, but I've ripped through it to simplify it and add a load of {{fact}} tags to points which are otherwise Original research. I full rewrite form the basics might be easier than editing this article at present, but citations would give it some authority at least.

I have removed any sections that were (my opinion) padding, and added a See also section to hold areas that were covered in essay form in those sections. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 12:24, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Patron

Now Clientele redirects to Customer,
...but: at the old revision of this page, as edited by 117.195.230.242 (talk) at 14:52, July 24, 2008. ( The list of clients for any company in general called as clientele ). I see it today. --PLA y Grande Covián (talk) 13:27, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

seems totaly misplaced in an article named "Customer". Is it possible to display this line only when the article is shown as a result of redirect from "Clientele"? If not, what about a disambiguation page? 217.68.101.68 (talk)
