This article can be repetitive at times. In two separate paragraphs the author describes policies pertaining to pollution induced by cruise ships as overlapping in some areas and gaps in other areas. This statement is not backed up significantly. The article also states multiple times that cruise ships are "highly visible" and, as a result, the environmental impacts of maritime industry is more focused on cruise ships than other large polluters like container ships or barges. There is no evidence to support that cruise ship pollution gets more media coverage or attention from the public eye than these other types of ships responsible for pollutants. The article does a good job at supporting the statistics it provides, but unfortunately links 1(Lloyd's Maritime Information Service) and 3(Experts: Mega birth Needed for cruise ships) are not functioning, and others link to articles that must be purchased in order to verify the numbers provided. The article does a significant job at depicting the types of waste produced by cruise liners and legislation passed to protect maritime waters in the passed, but fails to mention the ways that the cruise industry itself has worked to tackle its pollutant problem.

This article is old and biased and seemingly written by a Cruise ship PR team.
