nickname origin[edit]

The story told here is not true. He inherits his nickname from his father (an amateur football player in Juan Lacaze) who was known as "Cebolla" Rodríguez too. At first he was called "Cebollita" (little Onion), but then they started calling him "Cebolla". According to this entry, it seems that Cristian Rodriguez is currently a player of Besiktas JK but there has no such a statement made by Besiktas executives yet. The lead of the article states that he has earned more than 50 caps for Uruguay.
